Ed Richmond, Area Sales Manager for Passivent, completed an incredible European cycling trip in June in aid of the Samaritans. Ed, and his best mate Jon, cycled through seven countries – England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Denmark – before reaching their planned destination, Helsingborg in Sweden, on Thursday 21 June.
As they were ahead of schedule they then got back on their bikes and cycled an additional leg on the Friday to Malmo. Their trip took 7 days and, in total, they clocked up an unbelievable 850 miles. They did all this without a support team and only a tent as refuge each evening, wild camping along the way. What an amazing achievement for such a great cause!
Ed and Jon chose the Samaritans as their charity, a cause close to their hearts, as they have seen a number of suicides and attempted suicides, particularly with young men they know/knew. Life is full of ups and downs and there are occasions where anyone could reach a tipping point. The Samaritans work tirelessly to support people who are experiencing low points.
Together they have raised an amazing £2900, including Gift Aid, and have funded the trip themselves so all monies raised goes to the Samaritans.
