State-of-the-art ventilation solution provides
noiseless solution for open plan apartments
Leading
retirement builder McCarthy & Stone is taking its commitment to improving
convenience within its homes to new levels at a development in Sunderland.
Strawberry Court, a four storey development of one- and two-bedroom apartments
features state-of-the-art ventilation that ensures a fresh, noiseless, odour-
and draught-free environment is maintained within each apartment without any
occupier involvement.
Designed and supplied by Passivent, the UK’s leading natural ventilation
systems company, the ventilation within the development features Passivent’s
new Flair system.
The Passivent Flair system links the kitchen extractor hood, and extracts in
the “wet” rooms to one remotely located low energy fan discreetly
positioned above the ceiling within each apartment and ducted through the external
wall.
The central, continuously running fan operates at low level until the cooker
hood is switched on, which simultaneously boosts the fan and opens a damper
in the hood to extract cooking smells and moisture from the kitchen.
Self-regulating, non-electrical extracts in the bathroom and en-suite automatically
ensure the correct, pre-set level of ventilation is maintained, even when the
system is boosted by operation of the
cooker hood. Passivent Flair means all rooms are properly ventilated to Building
Regulations, and requires only one wiring loop instead of at least two.
To further enhance the living environment, McCarthy & Stone has included acoustic
attenuation in the ventilation on the two sides of the building facing the
road, to minimise traffic noise penetrating the apartments.
Anthony Anton, McCarthy & Stone Commercial Director, observed, “We
pride ourselves on constantly improving the levels of convenience in our properties
for the owners. The Passivent Flair system is another detail which helps us
achieve that, creating a home which is always fresh and free from damp, odours
and draughts, without any involvement from the occupiers.”
In addition to the Passivent Flair system, Passivent supplies a comprehensive
range of through window and through wall trickle ventilators, plus natural
and assisted ventilation solutions, with or without acoustic options, with
the added comfort of independent BBA certification, proven in use for over
20 years.
Passivent is part of the Building Product Design Group, which specialises
in developing innovative yet practical ventilation and roofing products in
line with changing market requirements.
Key issues associated with low energy and sustainability are always at the
